Clear Skies Highlight Successful Tpcr Swap Meet
Posted Monday, 30 June 2008 by Dennis Newlyn
Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway held its annual Swap Meet under clear skies and glorious sunny weather on Sunday, June 29.
A big turnout of traders – taking in many areas of the national speedway industry – were on hand, with brisk selling and buying the order of the day.
The fixture officially ended the full schedule of events for the 2007-2008 season as the TPCR promotion now turns its complete focus on the upcoming summer, highlighted with the running of the postponed Rod Bowen Prestige Smash Repairs Australian Sprintcar Championship on October 4.
Attendances were up on previous years at the Swap Meet as exhibitors presented their range of products. Merchandise holders – offering books, magazines, T-shirts and memorabilia – also were on hand.
One of the most impressive displays was the NOS Sprints stand, while other open wheel and sedan exhibitors were also represented.
“This year we extended the selling area to inside the ground at the main general public entrance area and overall it certainly worked well with more room for people to display their range of products,” TPCR Managing Director Steve Green said.
Crowds swelled from as early as 8:30AM, hitting peak attendance mid-morning. The range of spare parts on display was a buyer's haven and the 2008 TPCR Swap Meet rates as one of the biggest and most successful ever held since its inception over a decade ago.
