TPCR SWAP MEET – SUNDAY, JUNE 29
Calling all
vendors, sellers, race car product dealers and
anyone else who wants to buy or sell, the annual
Swap Meet at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway
will be held on Sunday, June 29.
This is the one
time of the year to literally take stock of your
spare parts inventory or showcase the latest in
race car technology. It's also the ideal time to
clean out the workshop and replenish or update
stocks for the 2008-2009 season.
The annual Swap
Meet brings together the speedway fraternity in
the off-season and site bookings can now be made
by contacting the TPCR office on (02) 9637-0411.
The Swap Meet
officially ends the 2007-2008 season that will
unfortunately be remembered for rain and more
rain!
Eleven fixtures
fell foul to wet weather, while 28 of the 41
race nights were rain-affected.
There have been
seasons in the past where rain created havoc
with the TPCR schedule, but nothing compares to
what the TPCR team and Sydney speedway endured
during the summer (?) of 2007-2008.
ROD BOWEN PRESTIGE SMASH REPAIRS AUSTRALIAN
SPRINTCAR CHAMPIONSHIP – OCTOBER 4
On a more positive
note, the big wet has meant that the Rod Bowen
Prestige Smash Repairs Australian Sprintcar
Championship has still to be decided and will be
conducted as a one-night show on Saturday,
October 4.
The championship
will pick up where it left off after the
completion of heats in the one and only full
night of racing in the three-day show that was
completed without a rain interruption.
SEASON SCHEDULE
Planning is well
underway for the 2008-2009 season that will
again see all of the major sections that have
been programmed in recent years as part of the
new schedule.
While a full
Sprintcar fixture date fixture list has yet to
be announced, a full season of Sprintcar racing
is currently being mapped out, with only a
slight reduction in the overall number of shows
than in past years.
There is still a
lot of planning to be done before a final
fixture calendar is released, but TPCR Managing
Director Steven Green has already been hard at
work, piecing together the upcoming summer
season race dates.
Racecar categories
that will be used and their respective number of
appearances also have yet to be decided.
Another event that
still has to be allocated is the 2008 New South
Wales Sprintcar Championship that also fell
victim to rain.
Serious
consideration is being given to hosting the
rescheduled state title at the beginning of the
2008-2009 season as a lead-in to the running of
the Rod Bowen Prestige Smash Repairs Australian
Sprintcar Championship.
More news will be
posted as information comes to hand on the
2008-2009 season at Tyrepower Parramatta City
Raceway.
